The Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) serves over half a million people in central Iowa. The MPO focuses on establishing a comprehensive, coordinated, and continuing transportation planning process that facilitates the appropriation of federal funds.

MPO Leads Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Efforts
The MPO recently led efforts to apply for a grant to complete a regional plan for sustainable development. The grant program, offered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, is to support metropolitan and multi-jurisdictinal efforts that integrate housing, land use, economic and workforce development, transportation, and infrastructure investments.
