Ankeny Bike Trails Temporarily Closed for Repair
Repairs will begin Monday, June 13. A detour is available for the High Trestle Trail.
ANKENY, IA (June 10, 2016) The City of Ankeny announced today that two bike trails will be temporarily closed for repairs starting Monday, June 13, weather permitting. A portion of the Ankeny Boulevard Trail and the High Trestle Trail will be temporarily closed in order to address severe erosion and deficient pavement issues; a detour is available for the High Trestle Trail.
High Trestle Trail Temporarily Closed, Detour in Place
The High Trestle Trail will be temporarily closed from NW State Street to NW 18th Street starting Monday, June 13, weather permitting. While the trail is closed, pedestrian and bicycle traffic are encouraged to use the 8-ft. sidewalks on the east side of NW State Street and south side of NW 18th Street as the temporary detour route. The closure is necessary for the City to repair two separate severe erosion issues and a pipe culvert adjacent to and under the trail. It is anticipated that the trail closure will last approximately one to two weeks, and the plan is to have the trail open on the weekends.
Ankeny Boulevard Trail
The Ankeny Boulevard Trail, which is located on the west side of South Ankeny Boulevard / U.S. Highway 69, will be temporarily closed from SW DMACC Boulevard to SW Ordnance Road starting Monday, June 13, weather permitting. The closure is necessary for the City to replace existing deteriorated asphalt pavement with new concrete pavement on portions of the trail. It is anticipated that the temporary closure will last approximately three to four weeks.
