Speakers Paul Trombino and Chuck Marohn

“Investing in transportation infrastructure drives economic growth.”  This is repeated as an established principle so often as to be rarely challenged. Yet Chuck Marohn, president of Strong Towns, raises important questions in the national debate over transportation funding. Rather than ask how big the next tax increase should be and who should pay for it, he calls into question the underlying pattern of development and how much longer it can be sustained before collapsing financially. Marohn, a civil engineer, was joined by Iowa Department of Transportation Director Paul Trombino in presentations on June 30, 2015, and a moderated panel discussion on how to create lasting wealth and financial resilience for America’s cities, towns and neighborhoods.
