Residents of Greater Des Moines are invited to give their feedback on a draft update to the region’s long-range transportation plan, Mobilizing Tomorrow.
The long-range transportation plan is updated every five years by the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to address the changing needs and priorities of the community, as well to adjust to evolving technologies and best practices in transportation. The Mobilizing Tomorrow update sets goals for the transportation system out to year 2050, and it outlines how the cities, counties and transit agencies of the metropolitan planning area will invest in transportation over the next 25 years.
“Our transportation system sets the tone for our daily lives,” said Mark Holm, Ankeny Mayor and Chair of the Des Moines Area MPO. “So it’s important that we think strategically and long-term, and that’s what we aim to do with the long-range transportation plan.”
