Water Trails Engineering Study — Downtown

The Des Moines Area MPO seeks to engage the services of an independent consultant, as part of the Water Trails Engineering Study, to assess the feasibility of the recommendations in the Greater Des Moines and Water Trails Plan relating only to the downtown area recommendations for both the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers.

This Study includes the mitigation of three low-head dams, on the Des Moines River at Center Street and Scott Avenue, and on the Raccoon River at Fleur Drive. Considerations will be made for dealing with safe on-water recreation, economic development, environmental restoration, historical preservation and required pool levels.

Qualifications are due by 4 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017. The proposed project timeline is an estimated 12 months starting in early 2017.

Water Trails Engineering Study — Regional Projects

The MPO seeks to engage the services of an independent consultant, as part of the Water Trails Engineering Study, to assess the feasibility of the recommendations in the Greater Des Moines and Water Trails Plan, not including those recommended for downtown, and develop 10% design concepts for recommendations, to develop costs estimates for communities.
