Dear MPO Members,
We would like to take a moment to thank you for a great year. Because with you as our members – partners in bettering our region – our work together is having a tremendous impact on Central Iowa.
We have had several notable successes planning for the future of the regional transportation network: investing millions of dollars in streets, bridges, transit and trails; utilizing paved-trail-condition data generated by the nation’s first “data bike”; updating the region’s long-range transportation plan; and convening the region’s first Smart City Roundtable to adapt to emerging technologies.
We have also taken significant steps to ensure that the MPO is strategically aligned with our member governments’ interests. This year we began implementing the MPO Strategic Plan. In particular, we updated our governing structure to improve representation and promote more active dialogue at committee meetings.
There’s much to look forward to in the coming year. Significantly, we will finalize the updated long-range transportation plan, which is renewing focus on getting the most use out of existing infrastructure.
